The Cetane Index number is a measure of the ignition quality of diesel fuel, similar to the octane rating for petrol. Diesel engines rely on the fuel’s ability to ignite under compression, and the cetane number indicates how easily, smoothly and completely the fuel will ignite during the combustion process.
Diesel fuel with a higher cetane rating will ensure optimal engine performance, fuel efficiency and reduced emissions.
